Keep every overlay independent

Add the photograph, headline, logo and decorative shapes as separate layers. This preserves the ability to move, resize, hide or replace each part. Editing becomes much faster when a client changes a title or when the same composition needs a second aspect ratio. Flattening too early turns every small revision into reconstruction.

Create contrast without covering the subject

Text needs enough contrast against every part of the background it crosses. Start by finding natural negative space in the photograph. If the image remains visually busy, place a restrained solid or translucent shape behind the text. Avoid heavy shadows and outlines when a simple layout adjustment can solve the problem more cleanly.

Build a clear reading order

The viewer should know what to read first. Give the headline the strongest size or weight, keep supporting text quieter, and use spacing to group related lines. One dominant message is usually more effective than several equally loud elements. Check the result at the small size where it will actually appear.

Treat logos and stickers as image layers

Import a supplied logo, face cutout or sticker as an image layer. Preserve its aspect ratio while scaling and avoid placing it so close to the edge that platform cropping removes it. Lock the background once the composition is approved, then refine the overlay without accidentally moving the photograph.

Use alignment rules across a campaign

A batch feels coherent when margins, type hierarchy and logo placement follow a repeatable system. Record a small set of layout rules, then adapt the crop and line breaks for each source image. Identical coordinates are less important than consistent perceived spacing.

  • Use one headline style per campaign.
  • Keep safe margins around text and logos.
  • Check legibility at thumbnail size.
  • Preserve an editable layered project.

Export for the destination

PNG is reliable for text-heavy graphics and transparent overlays. JPEG or WebP may be better for photograph-led social assets when file size matters. Platforms often recompress uploads, so avoid extremely low export quality and inspect a posted test when the campaign is important.

Bottom line

Separate every element, create contrast through composition, and preserve a layered master for fast revisions.
